Q & A with Sandra Bullock
By LOUIS B. HOBSON - Calgary Sun
Back in 2002, Sandra Bullock announced she was putting her career on hold to concentrate on her life. Bullock came back this year with roles in the comedy Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous and the dark racial drama Crash.
She also came back with a new boyfriend, the much-tattooed motorcycle enthusiast and TV host Jesse James.
THE SUN: You've always claimed to be handy at home improvement chores. Have you learned to fix a motorcycle yet?
BULLOCK: I know this is just a way to try to get me to talk about my boyfriend but that topic is off limits. It's not fair to him because he refuses to talk about me.
THE SUN: There have been numerous stories in the supermarket publications about an impending marriage. How much truth is there to those stories.
BULLOCK: About as much truth as there ever was to the ones that said I was pregnant.
THE SUN: In the past you've said you have a fear of commitment. Is that still an issue with you?
BULLOCK: I don't have problems with commitment. I'm always fully committed in a relationship. What I do have a fear of is marriage or, more specifically, of divorce. I only intend on getting married once so I have to be certain it's going to work before I say yes.
THE SUN: Is this fear of marriage you're greatest fear where relationship are concerned?
BULLOCK: As I've said in the past, I have serious issues with saying 'I love you.' It's something I'm working on.
THE SUN: Did you get your life in order during your hiatus as you'd hoped?
BULLOCK: I put a lot of my affairs in order. Life is another thing altogether. I settled some land disputes and I spent quality time with family and friends.
THE SUN: Is having children a priority for you?
BULLOCK: There are too many unwanted children in the world. Having children should be a completely selfless act. I love children so much that I wouldn't want to damage them through my selfishness so I have to work on me before I think of having children.
