Logon to The Net 2.0
Production Weekly reports that filming is scheduled to begin this spring on a sequel to Irwin Winkler's 1995 thriller The Net, which starred Sandra Bullock. Irwin's son Charles Winkler, who played a cop in the original film, will direct The Net 2.0, written by Rob Cowan.
The site says that the story follows Hope Cassidy who arrives in Istanbul to start a new job as a computer systems analyst only to have her identity stolen, her credit cards become invalid, and her bank account emptied. Having left her new boyfriend, James Pond, behind in Los Angeles, and having her new job hijacked by ZZ, a local haircutter who calmly insists she's Hope Cassidy, Hope finds herself on the lam from the authorities, who claim she's guilty of murdering a cop and stealing $14 million.
Shooting will take place on location in Istanbul beginning the first week of April.
